Increased Number of Icons
Increased number of icons could mean several things. First, applications like SPYWARE are being installed with or without your knowledge. If your computer is shared with someone else, ex: a co-worker or family member, they may be installing programs that do not pertain to your daily business functions. E-mails received with attachments (Ex: attachment infected with a virus) may have been viewed or installed. In other cases an increase number of icons can be an indication of a breach in your computer’s security or lack of adhering to the company’s computer use policy (If one is in place). Regardless, the more icons means more programs are installed and may possibly affect the computers performance. |

Some of these programs are hidden and there are no icons at all to indicate their presence.
